Extended Delivery Points
Page updated: 12 June, 2009

Food Distribution Points or Humanitarian Hubs established by WFP are now reorganized into Extended Delivery Points (EDP) which have started functioning from 11th of June. With the help of GIS maps the number of these points has already been increased from 10 to 15 keeping in view the ease of access and the concentration of off camp IDPs. In addition to the food provided on the basis of NADRA verified list of IDPs, they will also serve as a GRIEVANCE REDRESSAL POINTS to address any complaints or issues with the registration of IDPs.ERU has authorized TSF (Telecommunication Sans Frontiers) to establish telephone booths for males and females separately at these EDPs, where local, national and international calling facilities will be provided to off camp IDPs free of cost. The information kiosk and a primary health care outlet is also part of this plan. For each two or three EDPs (or a sector), an officer is being deputed who will supervise the smooth functioning of these hubs in addition to overall management, assistance and trouble shooting. (DMG Probationers are being deputed to these EDPs) With the GIS mapping of the off camp IDPs completed, the no of EDPs will be increased according to the concentration of IDP in the respective sector. These EDPs will provide humanitarian assistance for not only those IDPs living in the government buildings/schools etc but also for those termed as host families IDPs.
